Job Summary
Assists Production Supervisor lead the production workforce and process by ensuring a safe and efficient production of OES products that meet quality standards and customer specifications.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a proactive backup to immediate Shift Supervisor when necessary; communicates with prior shift management or production manager to gather critical operations information including machine functionality, materials levels, and production data and priorities
- Leads shift huddles to share daily production information and a safety topic to ensure alignment on production priorities and an efficient shift start. Attends assigned mid-day meetings
- Assists Production Supervisor in conflict resolution between personnel
- Schedules and communicates machine assignments for production employees based on the production schedule, highest priority production needs and labor constraints
- Observes all production-related operations to confirm machine functionality, appropriate volume of production and adherence to operational and safety procedures, reports any issues identified
- Identifies and proactively addresses safety concerns and enforces staff compliance with safety regulations
- Maintains up-to-date operations data, including production hours earned or machine attainment, machine downtime, material levels and scrap records
- Assists Production operators with providing timely meal breaks, running machine if necessary
- Ensures all new employees receive necessary safety and technical training to ensure efficient ramp up into production roles
- Maintains accurate employee attendance and performance information
- Provides frequent updates on production and personnel to Immediate Supervisor and/or Production Manager and proactively notifies a Manager of any matters which may require immediate attention
- Daily VOP review
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; or at least one month of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required
- Prior experience in production/manufacturing
- At least 1 year of experience in a leadership role or supervisory role
- Basic to advanced skills with MS Office, with the ability to complete reports and navigate through multiple platforms and reporting features
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
- Must be able to work in plant production environment involving indoor & outdoor work, exposure to noise, dust, and in proximity to hot equipment
- Respirators and face shields worn when necessary; appropriate facial grooming required to ensure effectiveness
- Safety glasses and safety shoes worn at all times
- This job involves walking, climbing stairs/ladders, standing, climbing, bending, stretching, and using hands and fingers to hold, grasp, push, and lift items
- Job responsibilities involve frequent exposure to oil and grease
