Summary: 

 

The Regional Director-Logistics manages distribution and related logistics. This position is a conduit between Sales and Manufacturing to formulate annual/monthly sales and production forecasts. The position focuses on meeting customers' needs by establishing the most efficient and cost-effective manner to supply distribution terminals. The Regional Director-Logistics manages forecasting, transportation, terminal budgeting, and other related services.

 

What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.  
  • Monitors the assigned division customers’ needs and coordinates cement distribution to meet these needs.
  • Formulates and constructs an annual sales forecast for the assigned division budgeting.
  • Serves as a liaison between the assigned division sales and plant production Managers to construct a monthly sales and production forecast.
  • Manages intra-company and inter-company purchases and distribution of cement, slag, and fly ash.
  • Monitors the assigned division sales trends, plant production trends, and other supply trends and adjusts distribution plans.
  • Provides periodic cement consumption forecasts.
  • Prepares monthly production/sales volume forecasts and imports cement, contract work, and shipment analysis.
  • Directs and manages the assigned division cement distribution terminals.
  • Manages logistics of cement supply to and from the terminals.
  • Supervises terminal personnel operations (PDRs, goals, staffing).
  • Coordinates cement terminal human resource, safety, and environmental activities.
  • Establishes annual operating budgets and monitors results.
  • Coordinates terminal maintenance with the support of plants and outside contractors.
  • Establishes terminal budgets and manages terminal projects with assistance from manufacturing.
  • Manages expansion of existing terminals and siting of new terminals.
  • Makes regular field visits to all plants, terminals, and offices to observe practices, establish local guidelines, and help with local traffic-related problems.
  • Works closely with employees on transportation matters related to securing adequate terminal cement inventories.
  • Manages the assigned division's logistics and distribution function.
  • Establishes annual transportation budgets.
  • Establishes contacts and maintains relations with key trucking and rail company personnel serving the assigned division.
  • Manages and negotiates freight rates and establishes service criteria for the truck and rail carriers servicing the plants, terminals, and customers.
  • Manages the assigned division's private rail car fleet.
  • Provides the most efficient freight logistics to serve the assigned division's plants, terminals, and customers.
  • Audits rail and truck demurrage bills and freight bills.
  • Files freight and damage claims.
  • Monitors and analyzes inventory and production control measures in relation to distribution schedules.
  • Directs and manages divisions' traffic, distribution, and transportation activities.
  • Works towards resolving customer problems and concerns.
  • Maintains memberships in traffic organizations and PCA committees and attends meetings and conventions related to traffic management.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc 
  • Minimum 4 Year - Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, business administration, marketing or related field.
  • Professional designation such as Certificate in Transportation (Preferred)
  • Minimum 10 Years of experience in transportation in the cement, construction industries, or related fields. 
  • Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
  • Ability to lead/manage others
  • Ability to effectively negotiate
  • Knowledge of transportation and distribution policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to perform budgeting, market analysis, and financial forecasting
  • Ability to work from general policies and objectives
  • Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organization policy is in question
  • Domestic Travel up to 50%
