Description Summary

Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, loaders, engines, pneumatic tools, and other equipment by following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect machines and equipment to diagnose defeats.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
  • Replace defective engines and sub-assemblies, such as transmissions, electrical motors, drums, seals, hydraulic pumps, valves, pistons, rods, gears, and etc.
  • Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Welds broken parts and structural members.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Report any problems to your supervisor.
  • Perform record keeping of time and parts on the appropriate forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License with a Commercial Driver's License and have or be willing to obtain hazmat endorsements. 
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass drug screen, “Fit to Work” physical, and criminal background.
  • Must partner with other quarry employees as instructed by facility manager to ensure daily schedules are met.
  • Attendance required according to attendance policy to ensure crew ability to operate at a normal efficiency level.
  • Physical ability to operate equipment under extreme temperatures and for extended hours of time.
  • Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completions.
  • Attitude/cooperation: always maintain courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work various times during day, night, or weekend hours at various locations.
  • Ability to follow MSHA/OSHA safety guidelines as well as those set forth by the company policy.
  • Ability to follow instructions of supervisor/facility manager in order to adhere to company policies, safety guidelines.

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in automotive mechanic, including mechanical maintenance experience working with a variety of equipment, especially heavy duty construction equipment such as (CAT and Komatsu) dozers, excavators, motor graders, water trucks, light duty support vehicles, and other small engine equipment.
  • Have 5-10 years of related experience or training.
