Position Overview


To perform tests and analyze results, which ensure that products and processes are consistently meeting quality standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • To comply with all company safety and environmental requirements in the performance of the job.
  • To follow housekeeping standards and 5S in the designated areas and in the laboratory
  • To collect and perform physical tests of market cement, process materials, and finished product for quality control and quality assurance.
  • Complete CCRL proficiency sample testing semi-annually and CCRL laboratory inspection bi-annually to ensure continued CCRL status for the laboratory.
  • To maintain daily, monthly records and communicate results of tests to relevant personnel. Performs verification of results when outside of conformity to specification.
  • To calibrate, test and maintain manually operated and computer controlled equipment such as compression machine, environmental chambers, flow nozzle and any other equipment used in the laboratory.
  • To maintain all required test records and ensure all results are accurate according to internal procedure, AASHTO, ASTM, ISO standards and are completed within required deadlines.
  • Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for test, research, or process control
  • Prepares graphs, charts, and other reports as directed.  Maintains and processes pertinent paperwork and records for organized file and retrieval purposes.
  • Participates in employee development and training.
  • To work effectively as a team member in the areas of safety, environment and timely communications with other departments to help meet the goals of the Quality Control Department and the plant.
  • To build and maintain working relationships between plant departments and peer groups.
  • To serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, safety and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.




  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or two-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.




  • 2 or more years of experience as  Q.C. Laboratory Technician required




  • Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Make sound decisions based on a thorough analysis of available data/information, and follows up on critical issues.
  • Following written and verbal instructions
  • Critically examining information for accuracy / quality
  • Analyzing numerical information
  • Skills in basic applied mathematics, chemistry
  • Strong reading, comprehension and documentation skills
  • Ability to use test equipment such as mixers, sieves, balances, etc
