Job Description Summary

  • The Assistant Controller assists the Controller with the financial affairs of the organization and with preparation of financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. This position reports directly to the Controller.

 

Requirements

  • Ensure Sox Compliance
  • Prepare general journals and job cost entries on a monthly basis.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account analysis
  • Perform budget vs. actual analysis on a monthly basis
  • Review and approve accounts payable, i.e., verify that the payables comply with company policy
  • Review and approve material sales
  • Monitor delinquent A/R and assist with collections, and notice of lien reviews
  • Process the required information for monthly Financials
  • Assist with preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budget
  • Help users with IT issues
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check

  • Able to create (and work effectively in) a team environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to write reports, document findings, and procedures, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and vendors
  • Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours, at various locations
  • Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form
  • Able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze and interpret, operating & maintenance instructions or regulations

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting in increasingly more responsible positions, preferably in a similar industry such as; construction, mining, asphalt, engineering, manufacturing, etc.
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • CPA or CMA preferred
