Job Description Summary


The CNC Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.


Essential Duties


  • Work independently in selecting tooling needs and required speeds for each program

  • Programming Mastercam software

  • Program, set up and operate VG6 HAAS Mill

  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments

  • May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures

  • Ability to cross train and operate an Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM)

  • Ability to read a caliper, micrometer, tape measure & indicator

  • Check steel harness on Rockwell/Hardness Tester

  • Engage in team 5S projects

  • Interpret drawings generated by auto-CAD

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • At least 2 years of CNC/programming experience, preferred

  • College or technical school education preferred, but not required

  • OSHA certifications a plus, but not required

  • Ability to run a manual mill is a plus, but not required


Physical Requirements


  • Lifting no more than 40 lbs
  • Intermittent bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, walking, and squatting
  • Standing for long periods of time
