The Corporate Accounting, Reporting & Analysis (CARA) team has end to end responsibility for the accounts of CRH Head Office companies; these companies represent holding (investment), financing, tax-structured and insurance entities, as well as operating cost centres, in multiple currencies.
The Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role within the CRH Group Services team and will be responsible for day-to-day accounting as well as ensuring that monthly management and quarterly financial reporting processes are delivered on a timely and accurate basis. The role provides an opportunity to liaise with Senior Group Management in the analysis of their cost’s centres, interaction with Divisions and implement process enhancement where possible.
The role is based in CRH Head Office at Stonemasons Way, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budget including reporting to Group
- Preparation of quarterly financial accounts and statutory accounts
- Focus on analytical review to provide meaningful monthly analysis of costs and other information to department managers and Group Finance
- Preparation and submission of VAT, RTD, VIES, 46G and CSO returns
- Managing the flow of information and maintaining a close liaison with the Group Treasury and Tax functions, ensuring that both routine and significant transactions are accounted for appropriately
- Maintaining an appropriate control environment
- Liaising with internal and external auditors for Group, Statutory and SOX audits
- Continuous process improvement to enhance information needs
Education and experience
- Professional accounting qualification with at least 3 years post qualification experience
- Detailed system and process knowledge to consistently challenge procedures and propose improvements is desirable
