This is an exciting opportunity to lead the newly formed Financial Planning & Analysis team within the Group Finance function at a particularly important time for CRH as the Group recently transitioned its primary listing to the New York Stock Exchange (‘NYSE’). This pivotal role involves overseeing the Group’s analysis, forecasting, preparation of the briefing material, partnering with senior stakeholders across a range of teams in CRH Group, CRH divisional offices and the operations to provide insightful business performance analysis for executive and external consumption. This work is currently being undertaken by the Reporting, Performance & Analysis (RP&A) team in Group Finance but the team is being split into two – Reporting and FP&A – to more effectively support new and executive reporting requirements.

 

The current RP&A team in CRH are a high performing team with a diverse range of backgrounds, skills, and experience. The work of the team provides opportunities to build a wide network of relationships across CRH functions and locations; access to a wide variety of challenging and interesting work adding value for key senior stakeholders across the Group; to develop project management and decision-making skills; to refine judgement capabilities and continual learning.

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

 

  • Work closely with Divisions to support CRH external communications around messaging & narrative – the story and drivers behind the numbers 
  • Build strong relationships, acting as a business partner to different functions across the Group including Strategy & Development, divisional and operational finance teams, sustainability, innovation & venturing, procurement, technical services etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant information for financial analysis 
  • Compilation and review of the MD&A/Business overview of Form 10-K/Form 10-Qs in compliance with United States SEC reporting requirements;
  • Streamline and consolidate monthly and quarterly reporting for senior management – responsible for accuracy, quality and timely reviews
  • Coordinate deep-dive analysis of segmental and operating company variances – identify trends and make recommendations/provide conclusions for senior management
  • Model forecast scenarios and track performance metrics – provide predictive analysis on further forecast scenarios and market expectations
  • Analysis of economic, industry and peer information for trend and comparison analysis
  • Implement process changes, monitor execution and provide reporting – drive continuous improvement mindset
  • Prepare adhoc financial analysis and reports as need to support decision making
  • Assess the implications of new accounting disclosures and providing practical solutions on how information can be gathered while meeting the messaging requirements (work closely with Investor Relations team) 
  • Review of Board and Audit Committee deliverables including annual and interim results, forecast/finance papers
  • Involvement in a variety of ad-hoc projects including process improvement initiatives; and
  • Lead and coach the team to assist in the delivery of responsibilities and develop team members as required

  • Organisational skills to manage multiple deliverables and use decision-making capabilities and judgement to prioritise; and
  • Enjoy building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives

  • Demonstrated strong technical and functional abilities in all areas of financial analysis with proven track record of getting to the root cause of problems.

 

Educations & Experience:

  • Qualified accountant with minimum 10 years’ PQE;
  • Strong financial accounting background essential, with group consolidation experience highly preferable
  • Experience with Hyperion systems would be an important advantage
