Job Summary
The Inbound/Outbound Manager is responsible for the effective planning and procurement of raw materials, essential services and transportation. They lead material planning and vendor management on a local level, while collaborating with Supply Chain partners at an Area/National level. They schedule pick-up and delivery of finished products in coordination with external trucking vendors and customers, and provide pricing guidance on transportation to the sales team when needed. They are a local leader involved in many aspects of the safe and smooth running of the plant operations which may change on a day-to-day basis.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing
- Guide Warehouse Leads at each site in efficiently carrying out their duties: receiving, kitting, material ordering
- Resolve payment issues or disputes with vendors or Shared Services colleagues as needed
- Purchase non-cast in products & services
- Proactively identify savings opportunities and negotiate with vendors as needed
Transportation
- Schedule product deliveries in coordination with external trucking vendors and Project Managers
- Maintain packing slips and other records of shipments
- Coordinate with Maintenance Manager to ensure mobile plant (trucks, trailers, forklifts) are kept in working order
Storage Yard & Warehouse
- Maintain efficient organization of storage yard and warehouse in coordination with yard crew
- Supervise monthly inventory counts
Goals/Targets
- Minimize delays to production schedule caused by insufficient availability of materials
- On-time payment of critical vendors
- On-time delivery of finished products
- Minimize inventory count variances
- Maintain stock levels as required by budgetary objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics or related field
- Direct experience in supply chain, transportation/logistics field; including experience utilizing transportation management software systems and network design
- Experience establishing business processes and managing performance
