Summary: 

 

The Environmental Engineer administers the plant environmental program following federal and state environmental laws and regulations.

 

What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Participates in environmental projects/issues, serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies, and inspectors during inspections.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental permits and all applicable federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Assists regulatory agencies by providing information and assistance.
  • Administers, and assists in preparation of various environmental reports, renewals, questionnaires and surveys.
  • Performs audits of data acquisition system and makes necessary changes.
  • Coordinates compliance with Corporate Environmental Policy and International standard development Organization (ISO) 14001 Certification
  • Contracts with training consultants and purchases training media in a cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinates all training efforts and goals with the Environmental Manager and Corporate Environmental Manager.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

 

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or other technically related field
  • Minimum of 3 year of experience in environmental field in cement, mining or related industry and working with regulatory agencies
  • Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
  • Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of environmental programs, policies and practices applicable to a cement manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to promotes a positive environmental image of the plant in the community.
  • Ability to work with general policies and objectives.
  • Ability to refer to Environmental and/or Plant Manager when clarification or interpretation of organization policy is needed.

 

What to expect in a cement environment

 

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
