Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Manage projects awarded from scheduling, resource allocation, cost projections, and billing.
  • Consult with clients, vendors and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Maintain current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written materials.
  • Analyze bid packages, estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids for projects of any size and complexity.
  • Participate in the bidding process.
  • Check daily cost sheets for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget, find out why and report to management.
  • Prior to job startup, review with the job foreman the project plans, specifications and review the project startup list to insure that work items are covered and/or subcontracted.
  • Assist Estimating by providing feedback on job progress as opposed to as estimated.
  • Assist Estimating as available by performing field measurements determining sources.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare time, material, equipment, production and labor estimates involving proposed change order work.
  • Check that foreman’s job quantities are correct and submitted to Estimating; remember they will generate the invoice based on what you report.
  • Maintain, in conjunction with the hot plant operator, adequate oil supplies and fuels to meet the projects needs.  Review Hot plant reports, crusher reports, job reports.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • 3 – 5 years’ previous experience in construction project management, project coordination, or field management, or equivalent combination of related education and experience. Related education can include a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related studies.
  • Experience with supervisory skills, production, and safety preferred.
  • Proficient with PC & Microsoft Office systems.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of asphalt paving, dirt work, excavation, underground utilities, and related areas is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to varying circumstances.
  • Must possess strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance and attendance
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
