 Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service.  Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Under limited supervision, performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machinery, punch presses, saws, shears, press brakes, welding power units, feeders, decoilers, etc. 
  • Operate all of the above in order to detect problems or malfunctions
  • Read schematic drawings (hydraulic, electrical, etc.)
  • Redesigns electrical/mechanical systems for incorporation into existing equipment
  • Assists in design and development of new equipment or systems for new or improved processes
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed


Qualification Requirements


  • Must be familiar with OSHA regulations and how they pertain to equipment and processes
  • Must be able to repair hydraulic equipment
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair production machinery such as hydraulic/mechanical power presses, saws, shears, press brakes, welding power units, feeders, de-coilers, etc.
  • Should be able to repair overhead cranes (brakes adjustments, contract repairs, etc.)
  • Should be able to read schematic drawings (hydraulic, electrical, etc.). Should have PLC programming experience
  • Should have all tools for this position


Education / Experience


  • High school education or general education degree (GED); some college and/or certifications
  • At least 5 years experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing facility


Reasoning Ability


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Working Environment


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
