What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Ensures all company, state, and federal safety and environmental standards are met as they pertain to alternate fuels (AF), alternate raw materials (ARM), and secondary cementitious materials (SCM).
  • Drives local Sapphire operations to maximize the use of AF, ARM, and SCM.
  • Partners with plant team to optimize quality and quantity of AF, ARM, and SCM (AF/ARM) for stable kiln operation and quality product
  • Manage on-site preprocessing: blending, shredding, and handling of biomass fuels.
  • Drives Sapphire local team and contractors in respect to CRH Purpose, Value, Vision, and Code of Business Conduct
  • Oversees the relationship with AF, ARM, and SCM suppliers:
    • Plans and manages deliveries to the plant.
    • Track incoming AF, and ARM shipments and prepare weekly / monthly inventory reconciliations.
    • Track the quality of services provided:
      • To plant: on time, in full deliveries, in quality specifications of the AF, ARM & SCM, and invoiced correctly
      • To suppliers: on time, in full deliveries, invoiced correctly, and use AF, ARM & SCM according to signed contracts
    • Manage any specifications deliveries minimizing the impact on suppliers' plant operations
    • Acts as Point of Contact in communication between supplier and plant teams
  • Manages Sapphire operating cost. Coordinates with Plant controller and Sapphire controller to prepare expense budget and monthly reports for Sapphire activity
  • Assist Plant controller and Sapphire controller with monthly AF and ARM billing
  • Seeks development opportunities to improve local operating conditions: safety, operating cost, logistics, and environmental. Locally drives the implementation of the improvement actions for Sapphire
  • Play a leading role in onsite ARM, SCM & AF trials. Engages with internal technical support services (MTS/GTS) and plant people in planning and executing trials for new AF, ARM & SCM. Coordinates supply, processing and blending activity for plant trials.
  • Work closely with the plant management team on any Management of Change processes.
  • Monitor deliveries of AF, ARM & SCM, and prepare weekly / monthly inventory reconciliations.

To succeed in this position, you will need:


Education/Experience

  • A University Degree with a strong technical background is preferred.
  • Experience working within one of the following industries is preferred: Resource Recovery & Processing, Industrial Manufacturing, Mining, Mineral Processing
  • Demonstrated ability to see initiatives through to completion
  • Solid understanding of electrical & mechanical principles of equipment used in mineral processing
  • Solid understanding of process engineering principles
  • Proficient computer skills, including applications such as Excel, SAP, MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, email
  • Leads for Performance - Demonstrate and foster a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals.
  • Communications - communicate with impact and create an environment in which people communicate honestly and openly. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving - Effectively examine events, issues, and problems and generate optimal solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to give clear instructions with appropriate follow-up.
  • Organizational skills, maintaining a smooth operation of Production activities and projects.
  • Physical fitness is required for effortless mobility throughout the entire plant.

  • Drives Change and Innovation - Champion new ideas and initiatives and create an environment that supports change and innovation.

Work Environment

  • This position will support the Ash Grove Cement manufacturing plants in Leamington, UT, and Durkee, OR.   The expectation is to the office at one of these two plants and travels as needed to the other plant-based on needs at the time.  At a minimum, five days per month at the more distant plant is expected.

Travel

  • Varies, but a minimum of 25% at the second plant site
