Summary & Job Scope:

This position is responsible for processing accounts payable documents in a timely manner, building strong, long-lasting relationships with vendors and colleagues, and providing a positive work experience for vendors and colleagues.


Essential Duties:

  • Verify approval on purchase orders and invoices
  • Match corresponding purchase orders to invoices
  • Process invoices and credits within vendor terms to ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Monitor vendor payment agreements to find discounts that can be used to reduce invoice amounts
  • Follow standard processes to eliminate possibility of duplicate payments and overpayment of invoices
  • Process vendor payments (checks and EFTs) within vendor terms to ensure timely payment
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with returned payments – Checks and EFTs
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with 1099 vendors
  • Process credit applications for vendors
  • Process annual 1099 vendor forms
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with handling the monthly closing of accounts payable records
  • Maintain systems, procedures, and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines
  • Work with team members and management to assist with finding process efficiencies
  • Assist with audit support as necessary
  • Perform other general accounting projects and tasks as assigned


Educational Requirements:

Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a High School Diploma (or GED) and 5+ years’ work experience


  • Three years’ work experience performing similar accounting/accounts payable duties
  • Open to change and willing to learn new skills

  • Possess strong time management skills and exceptional problem solving skills
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, aptitude to focus on tasks until complete, and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines

  • Dedication to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possess better than average 10-Key by touch skills
  • Knowledge and ability to place a high emphasis on controls surrounding financial reporting as it pertains to GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
