Job Summary

The process of Anodizing is to etch the aluminum extrusions.  Aluminum is also used for racks & header bars and therefore require constant repair.  The hooks used in the Paint process require frequent replacement which the rack builder oversees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build or repair racks, splines, hole racks, work bars and paint hooks
  • Weld splines and paint hooks.
  • Transports paint hooks for paint build-up burn off
  • Inspect racks and header bars to determine those in need of repair
  • Conducts inventory for PPE, metal and welding supplies and bolts
  • Assist with general housekeeping in Anodizing Dept.
  • Comply with Company and Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.
  • Must be able to maintain departmental production and quality standards with little supervision.
  • Teamwork is essential, must be able to work closely and effectively communicate with co-workers.
  • Aluminum and steel welding (mig) experience required.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/36th of inch to verify correct metal lengths.
  • Must be capable or have the ability to learn to read prints.
  • Must be able to make simple mathematical calculations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Must be forklift operator certified.  Crane certification encouraged.
  • Must be able to operate various hand tools, drill press, torch, welder and Iron Worker
  • Must be able to follow verbal and some written instructions.
  • Must be able to wear required standard and welding PPE.
  • Must be able to work overtime or “off shift” work hours as required.
  • Must be willing to perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Tag Writer.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for entire shift.
  • Must be able to continuously lift or carry 10-50#
  • Frequently push/pull 26-100+# utilizing a roll buggy.
  • Frequent squatting, kneeling and crouching
  • Frequent use of hand dexterity and hand eye coordination
  • Must be able to tolerate fumes from welding
  • Must be able to continuously perform a two-person lift of up to 90 pounds
  • Must be able to occasionally perform a four-person lift of up to 180 pounds.
  • Must be able to determine and distinguish shades of color for quality verification.
  • Must be able to occasionally assist co-workers pushing buggies weighing up to 3000#.

 

Environment

The manufacturing facility is subject to the same general climate conditions as outdoors (heat, cold, humidity, etc.)  Chemicals, dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are present within the atmosphere and may create some odors in the plant.  Oldcastle, in an effort to provide its employees with a safe and healthy working environment, limits exposure to chemicals through written procedures, engineering controls and PPE.  While some chemical may pose health risks if not properly used, employees are trained on the proper safety equipment and procedures for handling chemicals.  While the chemical exposure and odors are under acceptable levels set by OSHA and TOSHA, they nevertheless, can be smelled and are handled according to the company’s hazardous program.
