Job Summary

Maintenance keeps the facility in running order which would include: production equipment, inside and out of the build and grounds. 

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the facility business goals and objectives.

  1. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment
  2. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  3. Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and machines
  4. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  5. Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
  6. Detect faulty operations and defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  7. Assist with general housekeeping in Maintenance Dept.
  8. Comply with Company and Health & Safety policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies are essential functions of the job.
  2. Must be able to maintain departmental production and quality standards with little supervision.
  3. Teamwork is essential, must be willing to work closely and effectively communicate with  co-workers
  4. Must have completion of AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance in the last five (5) years, or recent two (2) years experience in heavy production maintenance
  5. Must have a strong knowledge of: hydraulic, pneumatic, Allen Bradley PLC, experience with VF drives, and electrical, including wiring methods.
  6. Must possess strong mechanical troubleshooting and welding experience
  7. Must be able to work overtime or “off shift” work hours as required.
  8. Must be willing to perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or lead.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Constant twisting/turning of body, climbing and crawling
  2. Constant standing and walking
  3. Constant hand/eye coordination, communication and hearing
  4. Frequent  grasping, lifting and carrying of 10-20# and occasionally 21-100# (shared lift)
  5. Frequent pushing or pulling of 10-40# and occasionally 41-100# (shared lift)
  6. Frequent use of visual acuity – computer, color, depth perception, field of vision
  7. Frequent squat/kneel/crouching/reaching (above shoulder and outward)

 

Environment:

The manufacturing facility is subject to the same general climate conditions as outdoors (heat, cold, humidity, etc.)  Chemicals, dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are present within the atmosphere and may create some odors in the plant.  Oldcastle, in an effort to provide its employees with a safe and healthy working environment, limits exposure to chemicals through written procedures, engineering controls and PPE.  While some chemical may pose health risks if not properly used, employees are trained on the proper safety equipment and procedures for handling chemicals.  While the chemical exposure and odors are under acceptable levels set by OSHA and TOSHA, they nevertheless, can be smelled and are handled according to the company’s hazardous program.
