Job Summary

 

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope® is seeking a full-time Engineering CAD Technician for our Newnan, GA location. The function is to create two-dimensional drafting layouts and three-dimensional parametric models for use in developing shop drawings, material lists, and fabrication.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop shop-drawing plans, elevations, wall sections and details for architectural aluminum products, from estimate take off, project specifications, architectural and structural drawings.
  • Revise drawings as required, per red line mark ups and written directions.
  • Meet submission & fabrication schedules.
  • Implement fabrication drawings from approved shop drawings and parameters.
  • Do complete material takeoff and develop appropriate orders.
  • Complete all paperwork necessary to fabricate all systems on project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

 

  • A strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to grasp spatial concepts.
  • Excellent math skills (geometry and trigonometry).
  • Must be capable of reading architectural plans and structural drawings.
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible and have good documentation skills.
  • Must  have the ability to accurately analyze architectural and application data by concentrating on engineering drawings and product information for long periods of time.
  • Desire to learn and grow in a team environment and work under deadlines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; knowledge of Parametric Software (such as Revit, Inventor, Solidworks) and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Comfortable interacting and collaborating with all levels of office and plant employees on an on-going basis.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a technical drafting degree or certificate in a related technical field of study is preferred.
  • Experience in the glazing, construction, or a related field.
  • Tier 2 Construction Experience.
