Under the general direction of the Chief Estimator, the Sr. Procurement Specialist is responsible to ensure the most favourable vendor pricing and payment terms consistent with acceptable quality and availability, in the procurement of all materials and services for all the company’s operations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Source vendors of materials, equipment and/or supplies.
  • Review all tender documents and material specifications to identify job specific material requirements.
  • Source suppliers solicit pricing and make prudent decisions regarding expenditures.
  • Negotiate contracts and provide material pricing to the Marketing department.
  • Execute purchase orders to fulfill operational needs primarily for construction materials and services.
  • Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
  • Review and approve Purchase Order pricing.
  • Investigate invoice pricing variance from purchase orders and amend where necessary.
  • Track significant pricing trends and forward to Marketing/Operations.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of construction materials at all Dufferin Construction yards.
  • Produce business reports for senior management detailing procurement activity and volumes as required.
  • Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function including material innovations, developments and quality standards.
  • Manage and maintain current material pricing in estimating software program

 

 Educational Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Civil Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • 3-5 years progressive experience in a procurement role.

  • Identifies and anticipate internal customer requirements, expectations and needs
  • Proactively shares timely updates and information with relevant parties.
  • Maintain a consistent, high level of productivity and demonstrates a strong drive to achieve meaningful results.
  • Takes immediate and independent action to resolve issues or problems when they arise.
  • Communicates with impact and creates an environment in which people communicate openly and honestly 
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or working towards is an asset
