Position Overview

Provides support to all plants within the Americas Cement Platform in the field of Process Control. Supports, troubleshoots and tunes High Level Control systems, liaises with suppliers of software and co-ordinates training. Supports and helps to troubleshoot, tune and upgrade plant control and data management systems.

Performs engineering support duties in the areas of plant computer network systems management, control, instrumentation, electronics, etc. in assistance to the various cement plants. Provides technical support to plant personnel as needed and assigned. Ability and willingness to travel to all cement plants within the platform is essential - around 50% of the time will be out of the office.

Works from general supervision and is able to identify new opportunities to support the cement plants' needs. Liaison between corporate IT department and plant to assist with minor IT-related activities on site.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Responsible for optimizing, tuning and managing external vendor support for the High Level Control software installed across the Americas Cement Platform. Assists plants as needed in computer automation hardware and software (PLC’s HMI, trend software, historian databases etc.) used in the plant operation including programming, troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Assists plants with their respective Process Control systems and networks used in the plant operation including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Provides support and management roles in projects as needed.
  • Works with Cement plants and Corporate Reliability Department on design, installation, revisions and maintenance of all plant electrical and instrumentation systems including all existing and new installations as needed.
  • Works closely with the Corporate Process Engineering group and supports their needs such as plant historian databases, reporting, plant audits, supports all plant information technology systems to the latest revision/version. Ensures all systems are operating at designed performance levels and coordinates computer technology changes.

  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Quickly troubleshoots and resolves problems
  • Knowledge of electrical and control systems, instrumentation, computer operations, and other related technical areas.
  • Ability to understand and operate computer software and hardware. Ability to use engineering and electronic equipment such as measuring devices, calculators and computers.




  • 7 years of experience in Electrical or automation in an industrial manufacturing environment




  • Bachelor's Degree required
    • Electrical Engineering or Process Controls preferred
