Job Summary

 

The Dry Cast Machine Operator and Leadman is a dual-role position responsible for operating the Dry cast machine to produce concrete pipes while also leading a team of operators and laborers. This position ensures efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with safety regulations. The role involves managing machine operations, troubleshooting, and providing leadership to the production crew.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Operate the Dry Cast machine for concrete pipe production, ensuring products meet specified dimensions and quality standards
  • Set up, adjust, and monitor the Dry Cast machine to optimize performance
  • Control the concrete mix and adjust settings to maintain product consistency
  • Inspect concrete pipes during and after production for defects or inconsistencies
  • Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and minor repairs on the machine
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machine operations to minimize downtime
  • Keep accurate records of production, machine performance, and any issues encountered
  • Work with the maintenance team to schedule regular servicing of the machine
  • Lead a team of operators, laborers, and other staff working on the production line

  • Assign daily tasks and ensure production goals are met according to the schedule
  • Provide training and guidance to team members, improving their skills and ensuring safe work practices
  • Act as the primary point of contact for resolving on-the-floor operational issues and escalating to the Plant Manager when necessary
  • Oversee the implementation of safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to minimize machine downtime and enhance overall productivity
  • Foster teamwork and ensure smooth communication between shifts and departments
  • Conduct performance checks and provide feedback to team members
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing process enhancements

 

Job Requirements

 

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in manufacturing or related field is a plus
  • At least three years of experience operating heavy machinery in a concrete or related production environment
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong knowledge of concrete pipe production processes, specifically Dry Cast systems is preferable
  • Ability to troubleshoot machinery and resolve production issues
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to operate and maintain Dry Cast machinery and other production equipment
  • Knowledge of production planning and scheduling
  • Basic computer skills for tracking production data and reporting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
