Position Overview

The QC tech role is vital to the successful delivery of quality concrete to construction projects throughout the Greater Rochester area by performing the duties outlined below. Conducting tests to determine the quality of raw materials, ready mix concrete, and finished products helps ensure compliance with quality standards.  This position requires the ability to work as a team as well as independently to support customers and help build the community.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily:

  • Responsible for performing routine tests as required on raw materials, process components and final product to ensure that the requirements of the specifications and customers are met.
  • Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned
  • Assist internal and external customers in any quality related matters
  • Collaborate with technical staff as well as customer service and operations personnel to aid in the successful delivery of ready mix concrete
  • Paid overtime and occasional weekend work may be required during the peak season
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Assist with other functions of the business as necessary

Education/Experience

  • High school or GED required.
  • Experience in quality or engineering is preferred but not required

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays
  • Valid state driver’s license

 Physical Requirements

This position requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, climb or balance. The employee is required to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to lift or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to dust.  Employees frequently work near moving mechanical parts and equipment. The noise level in the work environment is often times loud.  While construction can be hazardous, Dolomite holds safety as the highest value and will provide all PPE and training to ensure employees are protected in the work environment.
