The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the in-depth analysis of L&G Central Costs.  This role is essential to the Central region gaining a greater understanding of material, operating and fixed costs enabling the region to better manage the business and increase bottom-line profitability.  The Financial Analyst will also play a key role in accounting, helping with monthly closings, assist with parent company reporting, maintain/monitor accounting records, implement and follow accounting standards and controls as developed by or in conjunction with the Controller and VP of Finance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Reviews raw material costs.  Ensure their accuracy and monitor costs across all facilities
  • Make recommendations for areas of cost savings opportunities
  • Ensure that BoM costs are accurate
  • Review actual labor and operating costs
  • Determine if standards accurately reflect actual costs 
  • Ensure consistency of BoM structure throughout the region
  • Review actual operating costs
  • Look for trends, areas of increased/decreased expense
  • Determine opportunities for cost savings
  • Work with Staff Accountant to prepare bill of material (BoM) review files
  • Download data, prepare tables and other and materials used for the analysis of BoM costs
  • Make necessary BoM changes
  • Roll standards
  • Review BoM roll results and ensure they are accurate and complete
  • Assist in the monthly site P&L review
  • Analyze plant performance
  • Determine major cost drivers and monthly variations in spend
  • Review trends
  • Assist in the develop of reports to summarize and analyze plant performance
  • Assist in monthly closings
  • Preparing journal entries
  • Accruals
  • Account review
  • Assist controller with reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with tracking of leased and owned assets
  • Responsible for the analysis of Capital Expenditure spend
  • Tracking spend from approval to capitalization
  • Prepare weekly reports to track spend of large projects.  Determine spent, commitments and available spend
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies and work procedures and instructions
  • Other accounting duties as assigned

Requirements / Education / Experience


  • College Degree (Accounting or Finance Preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
  • Intermediate or above skill level in Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills




  • Personal desktop computers, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, writing instruments, telephone, and various printers.  
  • Issued safety equipment


Physical Environment


  • Primarily works in an office environment with controlled climate
  • Ability to perform light hand activity work at a computer/telephone station in an office environment
  • This position is largely sedentary; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files and/or boxes, and opening file cabinet drawers
  • To avoid injuries to hands, back and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at desk/workstation
