Position: Quality Control Technician
Reports to: Production Superintendent

Shift: Monday-Friday, OR Tuesday-Friday and Sunday 

Wage: $34.84

What you'll be contributing:

 

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs quality testing on production operations. Maintains quality assurance standards of production. Reports test results to production control personnel. Performs production control functions when interacting with field equipment. Complies with all applicable safety policies and regulations.

 

  • Performs sample gathering, sample prep and quality testing on raw materials, clinker, cement and other materials used or produced during production operations. Tests performed include chemical, physical and instrumental tests. Conducts tests in an accurate, consistent and efficient manner.

  • Records test data and results. Reports test results to Chief Chemist and production control personnel.

  • Assists field production control personnel when not performing quality assurance tests.

  • Performs production control functions when interacting with field equipment. Gains familiarity with field operations and equipment.

  • Cross trains in the physical/wet labs.

  •  Provides cleanup assistance as assigned.

ISO 14001 TRAINING PLAN

The Quality Control Technician must become familiar with and participate in initial and annual training for numerous ISO 14001 requirements.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent preferred with two years additional technical training in science
  • Two years experience performing similar testing functions in cement or related industrial plant is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information.
  • Ability to operate basic laboratory equipment, computerized systems and hand/precision tools
  • Ability to perform basic math and measurement skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of production operations and how process changes affect product quality
  • Skills needed include communication, analytical, decision making and problem solving.
  • Work requires long periods of standing and lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 250 feet.

                                           

What to expect in a cement environment: 

 

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. 

 

This position is classified as safety sensitive in accordance with WA Senate Bill 5123.
