Job Summary

 

The Company EHS Coordinator position is an hourly indirect labor position that will responsible for training, supportive coaching, and coordinates reporting of safety functions and task-based training at multiple area facilities. The Company EHS Coordinator will be responsible for the occupational health, safety and environmental management of our plant facilities in alignment with the Oldcastle Infrastructure corporate standards for Environmental, Health and Safety management. This position will work closely with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure environmental, safety, and health work standards and methodologies are communicated, and targeted goals are achieved through individual as well as team-based objectives and strategies.

The Company EHS Coordinator will provide a consistent presence within the facilities they oversee and is expected to identify areas of improvement as well as present solutions to the operational teams which provide sustainable value for the growth of the EHS system. This person will also serve as a catalyst and expert resource to promote and develop an innovative and proactive safety culture within each organization.  This position will entail supporting Lake View, IA, Topeka, KS, and Sioux Falls, SD.

 

Essential Duties
 

  • Coordinate or deliver task-based training to employees Coordinate with Area Safety Manager to ensure all Environmental, Health and Safety programs are kept updated and management system established to track implementation
  • Oversee and drive the success with the Safety Action Team (Safety Committee) at the facility
  • Monitor activity and ensure minutes and needed actions are being tracked
  • Assist in coordination and participate during morning safety huddle; document employee safety related suggestions and concerns and follow-up actions
  • Manage site Compliance Management System and Injury Management System programs and report required tasks and action items assuring that they are completed on time
  • Plan, coordinate and track all risk assessment exercises with the Plant Management Team and follow up that action items are completed then document the results
  • Plan, coordinate, and track all (5S) Projects with the Plant Management Team documenting results and ensuring sustainability
  • Collect and report all Near Miss/Potential Hazard (NM/PH) cards submitted and maintain action item list with regular follow up to ensure items are being addressed. Assist in solutions as needed
  • Coordinate and ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and aligned with corporate/site program
  • Coach employee(s) on behavioral concern or observations viewed in the field. These can be shared with entire team or individually as observations are made
  • Administer New Hire EHS onboarding training with classroom training and competency testing
  • Oversee and complete required Environmental monitoring or sampling defined by permits or programs
  • Maintain a EHS Training Matrix for the facility (authorized and awareness level training completed and assigned)
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

 

  • Experience with State and Federal Environmental Regulations
  • At least 4 years of experience in EHS
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • High level of computer proficiency in MS Office products
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910

 

Preferences

 

  • Degree in an occupational safety-related field is highly preferred
  • Leadership skills in terms of prioritizing tasks, train/develop personnel, and schedule/assign activities
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with other company administrative, production and technical personnel at all levels to achieve plant and corporate goals
