In this role, you’ll be testing samples of aggregate & asphalt to ensure that only the best quality materials are used as we work together to build our communities.

Wage: Starting at $22+ /hr DOE

Wage Scale for Position: $25 – $34.50 /hr. DOE
Note: Wage scale for position is the full wage scale an individual can make based on performance, experience, and seniority throughout their time at the company.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Collect samples from asphalt, or aggregate plants.
  • Performs field tests for density or other properties.
  • Performs and records aggregate gradations.
  • Process samples using a variety of testing equipment and procedures.
  • Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Record data and enter information into computer systems.
  • Communicates with plant staff.
  • Travel to and from various sites.
  • Performs general clean-up and maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain all applicable WAQTC certifications.
  • Must pass physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing.
  • Demonstrates good performance, safety and attendance.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic mathematics.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers on the phone and in person.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.        
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

 

Preferred Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous experience in concrete and asphalt production or closely related field highly preferred.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
