Aggregate Manager- Western Rock

Position Overview

This is a skilled position encompassing all aspects of dispatch and management of the Western Rock aggregates. The individual is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures.  This position requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the department.  The manager needs to be able to build and sustain a team where everyone works well together. Team atmosphere needs to be collaborative with everyone sharing in responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety of all personnel working within the business unit.
  • Safety and environmental stewardship of sites in the business unit.
  • Personnel recruitment, selection, training, coaching, and retention. Direct and coordinate daily activities while setting and keeping track of aggregate production goals
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.  Assist in bullet points and management of Oldcastle reporting procedures
  • Sustain Performance Management initiatives and support Plant Superintendents
  • Manage staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties. Assist Supervisors and Foremen with day to day operations
  • Understand what Quality means to our customers and Ensure Quality products are delivered to them
  • Production reporting and Viewpoint entry management
  • Manage production and product yields
  • Direct and coordinate plant equipment maintenance best practices
  • Use of Forecasting Model (DF3) for operations reporting
  • Manage special business group projects and CAPEX jobs
  • PEAK production administrator
  • Development of budgets and management of the operations within the business unit to meet and exceed established budgets.
  • Work cooperatively with other area management to accomplish goals.
  • Continuously improve product sales and customer relations.
  • Ensure that Western Rock is the Preferred Source and an industry-leader in the area served by the business unit.
  • Knowledge of areas in which we deliver with the ability to get trucks to the jobsite safely and efficiently.
  • Building of trust and rapport with internal, external customers and employees.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to site locations.
  • Must be willing to work Saturdays.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Directly supervises 5-7 employees. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner. Will need to be able to build and sustain a team where everyone works well together. Team atmosphere needs to be collaborative with everyone sharing in responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Dispatch and or Supervisory experience preferred.  Two or more years of office and clerical work. Previous experience in management and/or a culture development will receive preference.

 

Language Skills 

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write clearly and effectively.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

        

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. 

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have (or be able to quickly gain) knowledge of Apex 5 or 6 (JWS), Command Alkon, Internet software, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Pivot Tables.
