Job Title:  Research and Development Lead Lab Specialist EP Fab Lead Spec I / EPFB502

 

Primary Function:

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope is in search of an experienced Lab Foreman for Product Support Services, a division of the R&D Department. Applicant must have proven leadership abilities to assist and mentor others to ensure high-quality installation and testing. Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of the commercial glass business including but not limited to reading and interpreting blueprints, measuring and layouts, and fabricating and installing metal storefront, window wall, entrances, and architectural windows. The applicant will be willing to foster a professional, relationship between Managers, Product Designers, and Lab Specialists through open communication, on-going training, motivation, and support. 

 

Requirements:
•    A minimum of five (5) years’ experience installing aluminum storefront, curtain walls, entrances, and architectural windows.
•    Familiarity with Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope’s systems
•    Experience with door hardware and repair of aluminum doors (i.e. door closers, hinges, and door adjustments).
•    Working knowledge of materials, machines, tools, and equipment used in the industry.
•    Proficient at reading architectural drawings.
•    Understanding of installation instructions.
•    Ability to create metal take-offs for ordering material.
•    Verify that pre-established internal processes and safety procedures are being followed.
•    Ensure that installation personnel are capable and knowledgeable by observation of work procedures.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Proficient at Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
•    Basic AutoCAD skills are strongly preferred.
•    Listening and problem-solving skills are critical.
•    High level of attention to detail in ensuring installation methods are correct.
•    Knowledge of fenestration testing protocols is beneficial but not required
•    FGIA Fenestration Associate Certification is required within 1 year of hire date.
•    Must have a valid driver’s license.

 

Responsibilities:
•    Excellent Communication 

  •  Responsible for tracking/monitoring most aspects of test mock-ups.

  • Must be able to identify problems early, document them and communicate them with the Product Designer/management and be able to provide efficient/productive suggestions to solve the problem and document the results.

  • Must be willing and able to learn and incorporate new tools and/or technology that will improve installation and testing.  
  • Must be capable of organizing and maintaining electronic copies of quality check of materials, test datasheets, and installation checklist.

•    Ability to Work Under Pressure

  • One of the main challenges of this position is managing testing failures. Applicant needs to be able to harness their abilities they've gained from their prior experiences, problem‐solving skills, initiative and resourcefulness as tensions rise so they don't buckle under the pressure.
