Summary:

 

Under general supervision and according to established polices and procedures, performs chemical/physical testing for the plant as needed and maintains inventories and equipment in the lab. Conducts laboratory tests to ensure that products meet ASTM specifications. Complies with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures.

                                                                            

What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • On a continual basis, observes all safety rules and keeps work areas and quipment clean and orderly.
  • Performs ASTM test procedures for finished supplementary cementitious material.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and records of physical tests performed by entering test data into reports.
  • Maintains testing equipment and performs equipment callibrations.
  • Perform work area risk assessments and corrective actions including housekeeping, spill clean-up, and preventative maintenance routines.
  • Follows all MSHA and site safety policies.
  • Assists other lab and production personnel as needed.
  • Inform the Operations Manager or Lab Supervisor of any out-of-specification samples or problems as needed.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required. 
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided  

  • Minimum of 1 year experience performing relevant tests in a cement laboratory environment.
  • Minimum of 6 months training with another certified physical tester.
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of a cement or related try materials manufacturing process.
  • Ability to perform precise and accurate analysis and testing with minimal directions and supervision while maintaining a close attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop and follow comprehensive technical directions.
  • Ability to operate all physical testing equipment and laboratory computer.
  • Skills needed include mathematical, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
