Job Summary


The Continuous Improvement Intern is responsible for documenting current processes and procedures. They will lead in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), One Point Lessons (OPLs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documents. They will play an active role in the development and documentation of procedures. They will work closely with the OpEx Manager, Production Managers, Safety Manager, and Production Supervisors. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


•    Prepare documentation by collaborating with all levels of the plant.
•    Develop documentation for multiple processes within a given format.
•    Develop and follow up on action plans for critical process variables in order to meet critical product characteristics.
•    Update existing documentation to current standards and process updates
•    Update documentation formats to similar format to ISO 9000
•    Collaborate with process owners and experts to continuously improve processes and products.
•    Work with the quality team as required on product testing and inspection processes.
•    Develop and improve standard operating procedures and work instructions.


Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job.


Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements


•    Minimum completion of freshmen level coursework from an accredited institution pursuing a BS. 
o    The following fields preferred: Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, MET, Civil Engineering.
•    Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
•    Must be able to have a demonstrated ability to reduce complicated processes down to their fundamental parts
•    Familiarity with a manufacturing environment a plus
•    Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
•    Strong attention to detail
•    Strong oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
•    Must be comfortable interacting with Management, Supervisors, Operators, and Office staff. 




•    Personal desktop computers, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, writing instruments, telephone, and various printers.  
•    Issued safety equipment.




•    This position is a mix of sedentary and floor work; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files, boxes, opening file cabinet drawers.
•    To avoid injuries to hands, back and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at desk/workstation.
•    There are occasional visits to the plant floor in which case safety rules related to the plant must be followed; including wearing necessary safety equipment while out on the plant floor.


Work Environment


•    Partially works in an office environment with controlled climate, but part time in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment will be required.
•    Ability to perform light hand activity work at a computer/telephone station in an office environment.
