Position Summary

 

The role of Shipper/Dispatcher requires the individual to manage a variety of functions related to our Transportation/Logistic operations. The individual must have a strong understanding of construction, paving and the material distribution business as they relate to transportation. Will be responsible for maintaining efficient logistic operations, daily order building and scheduling for the following day. Will also interact daily with our transportation team, forepersons, superintendents, and drivers, fulfilling duties as needed. This a full-time position.

 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Manage same day orders for various project and operations.
  • Prepare, build and schedule daily orders for following day.
  • Manage ITCP folder that job forepersons create and share with drivers via email/tablet.
  • Must be customer service oriented, both internally and externally
  • Check and review all orders assigned before they are shipped.
  • Create, share haul costs on all projects or as assigned, with manager.
  • Proficient with DVIR reporting application.
  • Manage time in a way that prioritizes workflow with both internal and external logistics.
  • Identify logistic opportunities.
  • Dispatch & coordinate deliveries with company truck drivers and external trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of materials to customers.
  • Serve as driver point of contact to help support all LOB’s and drivers to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Maintaining professional demeanor in stressful conditions is a must.
  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours.
  • Reliable attendance is essential to performance in this role
  • Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves drivers, traveling public and co-workers.
  • Responsible for coaching drivers on all Motive events that occur.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

 

 

Qualifications

 Requirements/Education/Experience
 

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience in related function.
  • Construction/Transportation Related Experience preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively multitask, have mathematical and communication skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Thorough understanding of FMCSA regulations, i.e. hours of service, logbooks, and pre & post trip inspections.

  • May require additional lifting of up to 50lbs
  • Endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling
  • Driving, walking and standing for long periods of time
