Job Summary

 

The Controls Engineer Intern will assist in projects aimed at improving plant safety, efficiency, and reliability. This role is designed for first or second-year university students to gain hands-on experience in automation and control systems under the supervision of experienced engineers.

 

Job Location

 

This is an onsite position located in Bulls Gap, TN.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in documenting plant requirements for Controls and Automation systems.
  • Support engineers in troubleshooting and maintaining control systems.
  • Help prepare basic electrical drawings and documentation.
  • Observe and learn PLC and HMI programming concepts.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with operations and maintenance staff.
  • Perform simple data collection and analysis tasks as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards while performing tasks under supervision.
  • Working conditions - This job operates in a professional office environment as well as on the shop floor in a Manufacturing facility with no heating or air conditioning. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Currently enrolled in a first or second year of a university program in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and control systems from coursework.
  • Interest in automation and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain attention to detail.
  • This is an active role with a substantial amount of time spent on the shop floor, in an environment with no heating or air conditioning, requiring walking and standing at and around machinery.

Compensation

 

$20 an hour
